33 graduate from Indiana State Police Recruit Academy

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The 77th Indiana State Police Recruic Academey Classs of 2017 completed their graduation ceremony Thursday afternoon.

Indiana State Police Superintendent Douglas Carter made the opening remarks at the ceremony, which takes place in the Indiana State Capitol Rotunda.

A commencement address from Indiana State Governor Eric Holcomb came shortly after for the 33 new state police officers.

The graduation ceremony marked the culmination and perseverence through 24 weeks of intense training, exceeding 1,000 hours of various studies regarding law enforcement.

Each graduating trooper will be assigned to one of 14 State Police Posts across Indiana and will spend the next the next three months working with a series of experienced Field Training Officers.

The purpose of field training is to apply the formal acadame training when their solo patrol may begin in their assigned district.
