4-year-old pulled from Lake Michigan has died

BERRIEN COUNTY, Mich. -- The 4-year-old boy who was hospitalized after being pulled unresponsive from Lake Michigan has died, according to the Berrien County Sheriff's Department.

Matthew Ramirez was pulled from the water at Warren Dunes State Park by good Samaritans on August 1.

He was transported to the hospital, then airlifted to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo.

Ramirez died on August 5.

An autopsy was conducted on the same day, but the results are pending.

When the autopsy report is complete, they will be forwarded to the Berrien County Prosecutor’s Office for review, the sheriff's department said.
