49-year-old Walkerton man dies in UTV crash

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. - The Marshall County Police Department reports on Sunday, May 26, around 12:32 a.m., officers responded to a single-vehicle crash in the 18000 block of 4th Road near Walkerton.

Upon arrival, authorities say they found a Polaris RZR UTV had run off the north side of the road and struck a tree.

First responders rendered aid to the driver at the scene, but the man was pronounced deceased a short time later.

Police say the initial investigation shows the UTV left the roadway for an unknown reason.

The driver was identified as 49-year-old Jeffrey M. Balmer.

The crash remains under investigation, but police believe alcohol and excessive speed to be contributing factors.
