MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- A 50-year-old man is facing several felonies, including Attempted Murder, following a reported battery incident on the night of Sept. 20.

The suspect, Aaron Combs, is charged with Attempted Murder, a Level 1 Felony, Aggravated Battery posing substantial risk of death, a Level 3 Felony, Domestic Battery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, a Level 5 Felony, and Cruelty to an Animal, a Misdemeanor.

Combs had his initial court hearing already with his next one scheduled for Nov. 12. His jury trial is set for Feb. 8, 2027.

Case documents reveal on Sept. 20, around 10:36 p.m., an officer with the Michigan City Police Department responded to a home regarding the battery of a woman.

La Porte County Dispatch noted a woman was calling for help outside her home and that a nude man had come in and out of the residence.

The officer arrived to find a woman holding a towel to another woman's face.

The woman with the towel on her face was identified as the battery victim and it was noted she was bleeding heavily from her head and mouth and had difficulty keeping balance as she attempted to walk.

The victim told police Combs had pulled her by the hair and slammed her down about six to eight times.

Medics on scene stated the victim suffered a large cut above her right eyebrow, about one to two inches long. Police noted the victim's entire face looked swollen and discolored.

The victim also complained about one loose upper tooth. The victim was taken to the hospital for emergency medical care.

The victim also mentioned she was concerned about her puppy as she couldn't recall what happened to the dog during the alleged attack.

Police say while they were speaking to the victim, Combs opened the front door while nude.

He was subsequently arrested.

Police soon learned the home had a motion activated camera in the living room and soon obtained permission to view the footage.

Police say the video showed the victim being dragged inside the home by the hair by a naked Combs. The victim was holding her puppy at the time.

Investigators say the video shows Combs punching and stomping on the victim several times while she can be heard crying with the dog also yelping. Police say at one point the victim appears to fall silent and stop moving before Combs kicks and stomps on her again and asks where the dog is.

Authorities say Combs could also be heard telling the victim he was going to kill her.
