52-year-old Goshen woman dead after crash with dump truck on U.S. 20 Bypass Thursday

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- The St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office reports officers responded to a crash involving a minivan and a dump truck on the U.S. 20 Bypass near the S.R. 2 Exit in South Bend around 4:38 p.m., Thursday.

Authorities' initial investigation indicates a 2007 Chrysler Minivan, driven by 52-year-old Tina G. Hoke of Goshen, was traveling south on the U.S. 20 Bypass when she struck the rear of a dump truck, driven by 52-year-old Wendell C. Fetters of Goshen.

Fetters was stopped in traffic due to another crash up ahead.

When officers arrived, they found Hoke to be critically injured with entrapment.

Hoke was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team (FACT) was activated to investigate the crash.

Fetters was uninjured and cooperated with the investigation.

Investigators say they didn't observe signs of impairment. Fetters was then taken to the hospital for a forensic blood draw.

The crash remains under investigation.
