52-year-old man injured in Rochester shooting, suspect arrested

ROCHESTER, Ind.—A suspect has been arrested after a shooting in Rochester left one man injured, according to the Rochester City Police Department.

On November 27, around 10:18 p.m., officers with the Rochester City Police Department were sent to the 500 block of Race Street for a report of a shooting.

At the scene, officers found that a 52-year-old man had been shot. The victim’s injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

Officers along with deputies with the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office collected evidence and processed the scene.

Police then arrested Tyler Allen Smith, 25, on suspicion of attempted murder, criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and aggravated battery, according to police.

Smith is being held in the Fulton County Jail without bond.

Michael Hensel was also arrested during the investigation after police secured a search warrant for a home and vehicle.

Hensel was booked into the Fulton County Jail on suspicion of possession of illegal narcotics.
