ABC57 Saturday Kickoff host Allison Hayes is sharing messages of hope from those with ties to Michiana who are still finding ways to spread positivity despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
If not for COVID-19, the South Bend Cubs would be more than a month into making a run at back-to-back Midwest League Championships.
In 2019, the South Bend Cubs finished the season on a 9-game winning streak to make the playoffs as the wildcard team.
The Cubs went on to make history by going undefeated in the post season to win the 2019 title.
Team President Joe Hart offered this week's Pep Talk for Michiana.
“Smile. Everybody smile. Love each other. Treat each other with respect. We’re all going to have the opportunity to get back out together soon enough and when we do, we’re all going to come together at Four Winds Field, eating on probably the Philly Steak nachos, but hey, we’re all going to be stronger when we get through this. We’re all in it together, we’re all going to get through it together. We’re here for the community. If people just want to shoot us emails or ask questions, feel free to reach out to us because, hey, we want to give back to the community as much as we can. I just want to thank Michiana. The support we’ve had over the years has been phenomenal. We’re here to give it back to them too.”
