69-year-old dies weeks after sustaining injuries in Hamlet home invasion

HAMLET, Ind. -- The Hamlet Police Department has confirmed 69-year-old Connie Bailey, of Hamlet, died on Friday, August 16, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.

Bailey originally sustained injuries from a home invasion that occurred on August 3.

Authorities say an autopsy is scheduled at the Allen County Coroner's Office.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.

Hamlet Police Chief Clint Norem released a statement, via Facebook, saying in part:

"The Hamlet Police Department and the Starke County Sheriff’s Department wish to express our condolences to the family and friends of Connie Bailey."

The home invasion suspect, 40-year-old David Campbell of Plymouth, was recently arrested following the execution of a search warrant at the Red Rock Inn in Plymouth.

Campbell remains in custody and is currently facing 13 charges, according to the Starke County Sheriff's Office.
