9-year-old bicyclist suffers life-threatening injuries in crash

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- A 9-year-old girl suffered life-threatening injuries when a vehicle struck her bicycle from behind around 8 a.m. Tuesday on CR 16.
The crash happened on CR 16 two miles east of Middlebury.
Deputies with the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department said the driver of a Volkswagen Routan was traveling eastbound on CR16 when he failed to see Jolene Weaver's bicycle.
Weaver was taken by helicopter to Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
