SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Women’s Metro Open golf tournament kicked off Monday, welcoming the best amateur women and junior golfers in the area to South Bend.
Women of all ages have participated in the tournament for almost 100 years, aiming to hoist the championship trophy and earn bragging rights in Michiana.
While last year's tournament was won by a high schooler, a Metro Open legend is back on the green.
"It's a great tournament and I love playing in it every year," said Lori Horan, 23-time winner of the Women's Metro Open. "That's the great thing about this tournament, it's for young and old and if you can withstand time and try and find those shots again, you can still compete."
In addition to being a great golfer, Horan is also the mother of ABC57 morning anchor Summer Horan.
Summer will be supporting her mother in the final round on Thursday.
