960 pounds of trash removed Elkhart River during cleanup effort
ELKHART, Ind. -- Volunteers and city staff spent Saturday removing over 960 pounds of trash from the Elkhart River.
The Elkhart Environmental Center, staff from the Parks and Public Works departments, along with volunteers worked together to clean up the river and riverbank around American Park.
Fourteen volunteers gave over 46 hours of their time to the effort.
Trash pulled from the river and riverbank included three barrels, a shopping cart, metal tub, vacuum cleaner and 12 tires. (Photos in Facebook post below)
