SOUTH BEND, Ind. - With the colder fall weather settling in, and wintry conditions not far behind, the Center for the Homeless in South Bend is getting ready to help.
This year the "winter amnesty" shelter will be located at the newly renovated Center for the Homeless on South Michigan Street.
Because of the move this year, homeless people will be able to shower, do their laundry, and access support services all under one roof.
"Yeah, so if someone needs to get off the street this winter, it's going to be cold, as all winters are. This is a lifesaving program that people will come in at 8 p.m. at night, they'll stay with us till 8 a.m.", said Steve Camilleri, Executive Director of The Center for the Homeless.
The winter amnesty program in South Bend runs from November first to April 2024.
You can visit the Center for the Homeless website for more information and ways to show support.
