Children's Museum of South Bend celebrates 5th birthday

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Siara Carpenter visited the Children's Museum of South Bend as it turns five years old.

This is an open-ended play museum with a STEAM focus. To celebrate it's birthday they had an Amazon robot lab, dunk tank, face painting, and a food truck.

Geared towards kids one through eight years old, the museum fills a hole on the southside of South Bend which is a desert for children's activities.

Executive Director, Emilie Utigard said, "we need spaces where people can meet people from different walks of life and get to know each other and build community. So I think that community building is one of the most important things we do here."

They plan to expand the museum over the next three years and have an outdoor space.

As winter approaches, if community members are looking for a fun, safe place for little ones to play, the museum is $5 per person, $1 per person with an EBT card. A membership is also available for $125.
