Howe couple arrested, charged with felony neglect after infant suffers serious injuries
LaGrange County Jail: Spencer Slentz, Paige Barrett LAGRANGE COUNTY, Ind. -- A Howe couple has been arrested and are now facing felony charges following an Indiana State Police investigation into how an infant sustained serious injuries in July.
ISP says the investigation began on July 17, after the couple, 20-year-old Spencer Slentz and 19-year-old Paige Barrett, brought their infant to the hospital for medical treatment.
The LaGrange County Sheriff's Office requested ISP's assistance at that time.
ISP's investigation results were subsequently submitted to the LaGrange County Prosecutor’s Office, at which time charges were filed, and arrest warrants were issued for the couple.
Slentz is charged with one count of Neglect of a Dependent Resulting in Catastrophic Injury, a Level 1 Felony.
Barrett is also charged with one count of Neglect of a Dependent Resulting in Catastrophic Injury, a Level 1 Felony.
The investigation is ongoing.
The exact injuries and medical condition of the child will not be released at this time, police say.
