Goshen man accused of picking up minors for sex
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- UPDATE: A Goshen man sat in jail for two days after being accused of having sex with a minor in the Trader Joe’s parking lot in South Bend.
19-year-old Drew Damer faces two felony charges for sexual misconduct with a minor.
On Thursday evening, Damer was released from the Saint Joseph County Jail on a $3,000 bond.
According to the Probable Cause Affidavit, Damer, and 14-year-old girl authorities identify as ‘Victim 1’, both admitted to having sex in early October in the parking lot of Trader Joe’s.
Investigators say a witness, a thirteen-year-old girl who was dropped off at a gas station before the two went to have sex, also corroborated this story.
According to prosecuting documents, they then spoke with a friend of Damer's, who told police the 19-year-old would routinely visit the Mishawaka Sky Zone multiple times a week to pick up young girls for sex.
He allegedly preferred fourteen and fifteen-year-olds.
When ABC57 spoke to employees at the Sky Zone on Thursday, staff said they recognized Damer, but had no comment on the situation.
Damer was booked into the Saint Joseph County Jail on Halloween but was bailed out Thursday with a No Contact Order and Order of Protection put against him.
It’s unclear if any of those events began at the Sky Zone first.
The St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office was not able to comment on the case.
