NOW: Notre Dame basketball looking to bounce back after 13-18 season

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The Notre Dame men's basketball team is preparing for a new season as Head Coach Micah Shrewsberry says they're hungry to prove everyone wrong.

The Irish finished last season with a 13-18 record, with only four of the wins being an ACC play and not qualifying for the ACC tournament.

But with some new faces on the team this season, Shrewsberry believes the team knows what it takes and what it looks like to win.

"We're just gonna compete together. We're gonna be the best group that we can be, because this group gets one crack at it, and that's it. And but you feel it, you sense it from this group." Shrewsberry says. "I think the best thing that this group has is we have a little more creativity, where it doesn't look structured and patterned, and they're doing the same thing on every possession."

Coach Shrewsberry has had three straight losing seasons. "We need some guys that are willing to stick their nose in there and help us get stops and help us get rebounds and I think offensively they've really fit kind of what their role is going to be." Shrewsberry says.

The Fighting Irish compete in a scrimmage this Saturday against Dayton Ohio at 7p.m at the University of Dayton arena. Notre Dame's regular season begins Nov. 1.
