Pro Motorcross Championship held at RedBud MX

BUCHANAN, Mich. -- RedBud MX hosts round five of the 2026 AMA Pro Motorcross Championship.

The race weekend marked the 53rd running of the RedBud National, a race that began in 1974 on land the Ritchie family purchased in 1972 and continues to operate today under siblings Amy and Tim Ritchie.

"You know, in the beginning they didn't know what my parents were bringing to their little town. I think they thought it was Hell's Angels or something and now you go to Buchanan football or basketball game, and they're chanting red bud in the stand," said Amy, co-owner of RedBud.

The crowd included visitors from Canada, Europe, and visitors from all over the US.

"Our kids look forward to it every year. We ask them, hey, what do you want to do for Fourth of July? The first thing that they say is Red Bud. You don't just get this, you know, you get to have your kids and your family together, and you watch fireworks, you get to have food, ice cream, you hang out," said Felicia, a RedBud fan from Kentucky.

Race day included jumps and aerial tricks performed throughout the day, accompanied by the sound of engines and race announcements across the grounds.

"I started with a small Michigan group of veterans that race and have a little series and let them recruit, and we announced everyone's rank and branch of service and different arenas they served in, and the crowd was lining the fences and going crazy, and nothing says America like that," said Ritchie.
