Tigers look to remain unbeaten as they face off against the Minutemen
WARSAW, Ind. -- As the playoff push continues for teams in Indiana, one thing is clear for the Warsaw Tigers. Sitting at 7-0 heading into their matchup with Concord, this team looks like a juggernaut ahead of the postseason.
Welcome to season 36 of "Bartball." Warsaw head coach Bart Curtis is nearing the end of his ninth year with the Tigers and says this year's team has found success partially due to their senior leadership.
"It's a senior led team, we have 26 seniors, which is a really good number, and they're all kids that have done the right things. You don't have to worry about how they're going to act in the classroom, in the community, what they're doing on weekends, I'm not promoting that they get sainthood right now, but they're a fun group to be around," said Curtis.
Make no mistake, just because this team is 7-0, does not mean Curtis doesn't see areas where they can improve before the playoffs.
"I think our line play has improved on both sides. I think competitive wise, playing one snap at a time not worrying about the last snap or the next snap, worry about the one that you're on. I think a total understanding of what our expectations are has been pretty clear," said Curtis.
As the Tigers prepare for Friday's game, they know Concord's record isn't indicative of their true talent, and abilities.
"We know Concord's a good team, they're just a good program, we've got a lot of respect for them, so anytime we go against them, we know it's going to be a good game, and we're our own biggest enemy so if we do what we know we can do, we'll get the job done," said Michael Schenk, Warsaw senior fullback.
The Minutemen and Tigers will kick off from Jake Field Friday night at 7 p.m.
