A hit-and-run driver leaves 2 injured Saturday morning
CASS COUNTY, Mich. – Authorities are searching for the person who fled a hit-and-run crash, leaving two people injured.
Cass County officers reported to a two-vehicle hit and run crash that occurred at approximately 12:56 a.m. Saturday morning.
The crash occurred on Dailey Road near Hospital Street in Jefferson Township.
Emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene after a southbound vehicle operated by 51-year-old William Neff of Osceola, Indiana was struck by a northbound vehicle which had crossed the center line.
Neff and his passenger, Ruth Neff, 51, of Osceola, Indiana were treated by medics at the scene.
The unknown driver of the northbound vehicle was traveling in a blue 2012 Jeep Wrangler when they fled the scene following the crash.
The Dowagiac K-9 team was called in to assist in the search for the missing driver.
Following an exhaustive search through the woods and surrounding corn fields, the search was called off.
Alcohol is an unknown factor in the crash at this time.
Seatbelts were worn and airbags were deployed in the Neff’s vehicle.
The crash remains under investigation.
Assisting at the scene were Cass Central Fire Department, Dowagiac Police Department K-9 unit, Cassopolis Police Department, and LifeCare Ambulance.
