Man dies in Marshall County crash

MARSHALL COUNTY, Ind. -- One man died after a crash in Marshall County on Saturday. It happened at 11:50 a.m. near the intersection of North Sycamore Road and West 3B Road. 

The preliminary investigation shows that 59-year-old Douglas Swanson of LaPorte was driving west on West 3B Road and did not stop at the stop sign at the intersection of North Sycamore Road, according to reports.

Swanson's car was hit in the driver's side by a red 2005 Dodge, police said.  

The driver of the Dodge did not have a stop sign. 

Swanson was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from his vehicle. 

He died on the way to the hospital. 

The driver of the Dodge, identified as 25-year-old Brandi Dorsey, was treated at the scene and cited for not wearing a seatbelt and having a suspended driver's license. 

A toxicology report is pending for Dorsey. 

This investigation is ongoing.
