SAINT JOSEPH, Mich. -- Marquette, a new apartment complex, is coming to the heart of downtown Saint Joseph on the corner of Pleasant Street.

This new complex will have 100 units along with 12,000 square feet dedicated to shopping destinations and restaurants.

This plot of land used to be home to the YWCA and currently is used for parking.

With parking concerns being a major topic in Saint Joseph, this new complex will have some parking benefits to residents who live there or are just visiting.

The Marquette will include an underground parking garage to combat some of the parking issues in the downtown.

In order to proceed with this project, The Rienks Group must match the current number of spots in the lot that they will be building on, though there are plans to go beyond that.

"Parking is very important for Saint Joe residents and our goal is to get as many additional parking spaces on here as possible," said Peter Rienks, president of TRG.

This 55-million-dollar project will begin in the middle of next year, and construction is planned to be completed by the summer of 2028.
