A taste of Flavor 574: New restaurants in Elkhart Co.

Elkhart County is home to some new restaurants that could bring new life to the area. But, others are fading out as consumers shift away from buffet-style eating.

Flavor 574 columnist Marshall King was in the ABC 57 studio Thursday morning to bring us up to speed on the new food spots for Michiana diners.

The first is opening up just in time to cash in on March Madness fans who want to head to a new sports bar to watch the basketball games. Buffalo Wild Wings on E. Windsor Ave. is now open, but it's not exactly a replica of other BWW you might have been to. The owner says the concept for this restaurant is much more open with a separate entrance for diners who are grabbing wings to go.

Diners won't miss any of the madness with 72 T.V.s inside.

The Shoppes on Six has a new restaurant that is competing for Chipotle's customer base. Qdoba Mexican Eats opened its doors this week. The chain specializes in nachos, burritos, tortilla soup, and tacos. In fact, customers who checked the restaurant out during the grand opening got free Knockout Tacos.

It's a sign that diners' preferences might be shifting: we told you last week that Ryan's Restaurant in Elkhart abruptly closed its doors. Now, our partners at Flavor 574 report the restaurant's assets, along with other businesses owned by Buffetts LLC are up for sale through Auction Nation.

Ryan's was one of dozens of restaurants owned by Buffets LLC that closed as part of bankruptcy proceedings.
