A fire in South Bend leaves building ablaze
We’re dry now, but we just came off a rainy couple of days with more in the forecast this week! Although the first 4 days of the month we're dry, we’ve made up for the lack of rainfall and then some over the past couple days.
Starting last Thursday, we’ve had at least some rain every day. We started with more than 1.5 inches of rain on Thursday alone, then hovering around .2 inches Friday and Saturday, and trace amounts to round out the weekend and start the work week.
All the rain in that 5-day span gave us enough to total 2.05 inches of rain for the month, putting us at a 1.07-inch surplus compared to the average at this point in October.
Despite the slow start, this rainfall places us at the 14th wettest start to the month on record which dates all the way back to 1894.
Unfortunately, it still hasn’t pulled us out of drought with most of Michiana still under moderate drought (D1) conditions. It looks like the recent rain helped to stall development, but hopefully the rain we’re expecting for the second half of the week will help to diminish drought.
