AARP hosts meet the candidate function at St. Paul's Sanctuary

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The American Association of Retired Persons held its own political convention of sorts Monday in South Bend.

A number of Republicans and Democratic candidates for various state and national jobs showed up for the event at St. Paul's Sanctuary on Ironwood.
They included both the Republican for 8th State House District Richard Pfeil and the Democrat Ryan Dvorak.

Others in attendance included U.S. Congressional Brendan Mullen. He is currently running against Jackie Walorski.

"We invited all the candidates and sometimes they don't come, but we had a really good turn out today," Penny Hughes of AARP said. "We're glad everyone is here. We've got at least 12."

The AARP says that 37 million people belong to the association.
