ABC57 recognizes February "Teacher of the Year" nominee

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- ABC57 has a new teacher to introduce.

Mr. Charles Dance is a nominee for ”Teacher of the Year.” He teaches 6th, 7th, and 8th grade literature and history at St. Matthew Cathedral in South Bend.

Dance's students say he's able to make learning fun. He puts presentations on his SMART Board and makes them interactive.

Students also say he challenges them to work hard and do well. He's taught at least three generations of students at St. Matthew Cathedral.

"I like awards, but a teacher is only as good as the students who sit in front of them,” said Dance. “And I've been fortunate I've had very good students here at St. Matthew's."

The final selection for “Teacher of the Year” will be in May.
