SOUTH BEND, Ind -- 100 days to Indy goes behind the scenes ahead of Indy 500.

Josef Newgarden is part of Team Penske, who makes up for 18 victories in the Indy 500. Newgarden will compete in his 12th start in this year’s race but has yet to come win, despite coming close 2016, finishing 3rd.

“It is a difficult race to win. You know, as everyone in Indiana knows the Indy 500, , there's so much pressure that goes into that single day and obviously, we're a championship as well, we, you know, we compete all year, but trying to get it right on that single day, during the month of May, you know, there's magic that has to happen. And for us, and for me, personally, it's not happened quite yet. But I'm not giving up on it. I'm full in you know, I put my heart and soul into it every single year. And I love the process of it, you know, for me that never gets old showing up, you know, trying to be the best of everybody. And, you know, that'll be no different this time around,” Newgarden said.

The tv series “100 Days to Indy” will go behind the scenes showing the preparation it takes to prepare for the highly anticipated event.

“For me, it's the personalities, you know, you're really going to see IndyCar in a way that you've never seen it before. You know what, you've got an on the surface level, when you watch the races, you have the Uber competitive side of it on, you know, if you're a racing fan, it's I think it's easy to fall in love with it. It's a very competitive product. You know, pretty much the top team, whether you're a team Penske or you're the underdog team, you have an opportunity to win every race that you show up to. So, from that standpoint, it's super compelling. But it's everything else that people don't get to see that this Docu-series is really I think, you know, change the landscape for our sport, Newgarden added.

The series will air on CW25 Thursday night at 9pm.
