Accident involving semi-truck closes portion of US 421

An injury accident involving a semi-truck and a passenger vehicle has caused a portion of US 421 near Michigan City to close briefly Tuesday night.
The La Porte County Sheriff’s Department says extrication was required and a Med Flight helicopter was dispatched to the scene.
The extent of the injuries are unknown at this time.
The road is closed south of I-94, between County Road 100 North and County Road 200 North.
Deputies ask drivers to avoid the area until the scene is clear.
