ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Council approved a new contract for the county’s humane society which will boost the organization’s funding for the first time in 15 years.
The Humane Society of Elkhart County will now receive $220,000 annually from the county to finance animal control services and shelter management.
The humane society says this new contract will help the organization continue to house the approximately 7,300 animals that are in their care each year.
