Additional monthly payment going to Michigan families eligible for food assistance

Michigan families who receive food assistance benefits will get an additional payment in January in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services announced.

Nearly 700,000 households in Michigan will benefit from this additional payment.

Those who receive benefits will see the payment on their Bridge Card from January 15-24. The benefits will be loaded onto the cards as a separate payment.

The federal government is providing states with additional funding for food assistance under House Resolution 6201.

Families who are eligible do not need to re-apply to get the additional benefits.
