ELKHART, Ind. -- Allowed2Dream held a memorial this afternoon for Travelle Moore, an eighteen-year-old Elkhart man who was fatally shot on this day last year.
Allowed2Dream was started by Travelle's Mother Gina, as a way to curb gun violence and give young people a safe place to visit whenever they need it.
Gina tells ABC57 the past year has been a rollercoaster for her, but she hopes that Allowed2Dream can inspire hope in others affected by gun violence.
"Allowed2Dream, has allowed me to be in touch with his friends; to be a protector, because I'm very protective over them, you know? I know they like to have fun do things, but at the same time, it's allowed me the strength to inspire hope. Everything that I have planned today is about inspiring hope and dreams," stated Moore.
The memorial was held at Roosevelt Park, on the same property as Roosevelt Apartments, where Travelle lost his life.
