AM General extends plant shutdown again

MISHAWAKA, Ind.--Workers at AM General will have to wait longer before they head back to the Humvee plant.

ABC 57 broke the news Tuesday that the company's shutdown will be extended again until at least November 13th.

ABC 57 first reported the AM shutdown from October 1st until October 15th.

That shutdown was extended from October 16th until October 26th.

This is the second extension in a matter of weeks.

"I can confirm that we will extend the manufacturing pause through November 13," Jeff Adams with AM General said via e-mail Tuesday evening.

"We continue to work on finalizing the first of a number of internatinal opportunities which will extend HMMWV production well into the foreseeable future. However, the timing of these opportunities has not alloed the company to obtain the necessary customer and U.S. Government approvals in time to avoid this pause at our Military Assembly Plant facility," Adams said.
