American hostage threatened to be executed by Al Qaeda

Al Qaeda is threatening to kill an American hostage if U.S. officials do not meet their demands.

The family of the hostage has released a video pleading his captives show mercy.

33-year-old Luke Somers is a photojournalist and interpreter who has been held by Al Qaeda's affiliate in Yemen for over 14 months.

His mother, Paula, makes a desperate plea to stop the execution from happening.

“Please show mercy and give us an opportunity to see our Luke again. He is all that we have.”

U.S. intelligence officials are looking through the video for clues on where Luke Somers is now being held.
