Amtrak passenger trains pick up the pace

NILES, Mich. – Amtrak trains are picking up the pace!

On Tuesday, the rail line announced it is upping the speed on passenger trains to 110 miles per hour!

Amtrak trains currently go 95 miles per hour.

MDOT said the increase in speed will shave about 10 minutes off of your trip.

Right now, the change is only for “Wolverine Service”, which stops in Niles, and the Blue Water Service.

The change is expected on Feb. 15.
