Animals left at abandoned home taken to Humane Society

Animals that were left behind in an abandoned home in Osolo Township are now in the care of the Elkhart County Humane Society.

The animals left behind included a pig, chicken and eleven fish.

The Humane Society of Elkhart County issued this statement:

Our number one priority is to care for the animals and ensure their well-being. As with these types of cases, we can always use funds to help support the care for the animals which may require specific types of food not usually available at the Humane Society.

If you would like to make a donation, visit the Humane Society of Elkhart's website.

If you have any information about who left the animals behind, contact the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department. They are investigating the case.
