Annual holiday historic walking tour in DTSB Sunday
With exactly three weeks to go until Christmas Day, Downtown South Bend is helping you get in the holiday spirit with its annual holiday walking tour.
“It’s a very popular tour and there’s so many beautiful homes in the historic West Washington District,” DTSB Events Coordinator Kylie Carter said. “So it’s a really great chance to actually get in and check them out. They’re decorated for the holidays, so that really amps up the level of ‘wow!’”
The tour takes you through ten of South Bend’s most coveted, and historical, properties in the West Washington District.
“It’s a simple way of giving back to the community,” Tom Erlandson, owner of The Oliver Inn, said. “It’s allowing us to share this home with the community because this home was part of the community before we were here and it’ll be part of the community after we’re gone.”
Erlandson and his wife are participating in the tour for the tenth year.
The tour will take place from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 4.
It is free, and you can start at any of the ten locations and go in whichever order you’d like.
The ten participating locations are:
1) Rose Morey Lamport House
2) Remedy Building
3) The Good House
4) Tippecanoe Place
5) The Oliver Inn
6) Innisfree
7) Kizer House
8) Civil Rights Heritage Center
9) ND Center for Arts and Culture
10) St. Paul’s Memorial United Methodist Church
