Annual Museum Day presented by Smithsonian magazine
SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The History Museum and the Studebaker National Museum are collaborating with institutions across the nation for Museum Day next Saturday.
Any visitor who presents a Museum Day admission card will be admitted free entrance to the museums from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Each card provides free admission for two individuals and only one admission card will be permitted per household.
Featured at the museum is “Manufacturing Victory”, a special exhibit co-presented by the Studebaker and the History Museum.
The exhibit explores the community’s role in manufacturing for the military dating from pre-Civil war era to present day covering a 160-year time span.
Some of the things showcased in the exhibit include: Studebaker’s horse drawn army wagons, AM General’s iconic Humvee and more.
Other artifacts include the Oliver factory’s ammunition, Bendix’s Talos missile and Ball-Band’s diving equipment.
