Apple rolling out new maps app

The Wall Street Journal reports Apple will roll out a new maps app sometime this year.

It's for iPhones and iPads. Right now most iPhone users have Google Maps as the smartphone’s default navigator.

Analysts say the move could be a major power play as the tech giants compete for users.

The journal report says Apple will ask app developers to create programs that work with its new maps program for features like social networking and search.
