SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- There are some experts who believe President Trump giving TikTok 75 days to find a new owner, may violate the law passed by Congress and signed by former President Joe Biden.
"Basically, the Supreme Court ruled that TikTok must be sold or banned, so right now President Trump is looking to force a sale in the negotiations with the President of China so it can remain working for American citizens," stated Notre Dame Social Media and Global Affairs Professor Lisa Schirch.
ABC57 asked her if she was surprised by President Trump's reversal after he originally vowed to ban TikTok during his first term in office.
"I think that he realized that he had many fans on this app, but it's actually been more Republicans than Democrats that want to have the app banned and are afraid of China's influence over Americans. So, it is a bit concerning that he would think about kind of ignoring the ban all together," Professor Schirch continues.
