Authorities report attempted child abduction in South Bend

SOUTH BEND, Ind. – The South Bend Police Department is investigating an attempted child abduction that occurred near Leer Street and Indiana Street on Tuesday afternoon.

According to authorities, an unknown male approached a 9-year-old female.

The 9-year-old girl attempted to run away. The man followed her in his vehicle but she was able to get to safety, police say.

The suspect is described as a black male, possibly in his 20s or 30s and driving a silver Volkswagen.
