Baby clinging to life after incident on Sadie Street

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- An infant was rushed to the hospital after emergency crews responded to a home in the 100 block of Sadie Street just after 11 p.m. Saturday.

Police arrested Nyesha Crockett, the woman they believe is responsible for the current condition of 11-month old Micah Richardson.

Officers say that the child is not dead, but are describing the infant's condition as 'extremely critical.'

Crockett is facing multiple felony battery charges and is currently being held without bond at St. Joseph County jail.

The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit has detectives investigating the case.
