SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- A Back-to-School drive is kicking off today in South Bend to help provide students with a pair of shoes, clothes or supplies at the Martin Luther King Jr. Center.
The event will be kicking off at 11 a.m. until all supplies are gone or until 4 p.m.
The idea came from a 9-year-old young girl that saw the need to provide kids with shoes.
Her dad, Dan Santana, decided to put together the Back-to-School Shoe drive to help students return to the classroom with one less worry.
Although the donation drive collection is closed, Santana says he will continue to collect items at the drive on Sunday.
