BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- Demolition crews begin bringing down what's left of the Bard School of East Main Street in Benton Harbor.

The school shut down 26 years ago and was use by the local Boys and Girls Club until 2012. The building has remained empty ever since, with vandals starting arson fires and homeless people living inside at times over the years.

Due to dropping enrollment over the years, Benton Harbor has more than a dozen vacant schools in the area. The district is hoping something that can benefit the students, and the entire area can be built in the location in the future.

The old Martindale School is also being demolished.
