Basilica at Notre Dame unloads brand new organ

The University of Notre Dame’s Basilica received a new organ on Sunday from Takoma, Washington.

The original organ was installed in 1978 and is being replaced because of mechanical issues.

"This organ is incredible, its world-class. It doesn't get any better than what were getting. We're really, really lucky to have it coming here."  said Daniel Bayless, Organist and Director of Women’s Liturgical Choir.

The Basilica will be closed for two weeks while the instrument is installed.

Unfortunately, the organ will not be heard until December as the instrument requires several months of voicing and tuning.
