BAUGO TOWNSHIP, Ind -- Hundreds of thousands of dollars are still unaccounted for in Baugo Township where residents and board members have filed a petition to remove the elected Trustee, Katherine Weaver.
A special meeting was set to be held Thursday evening, however with the federal holiday, not enough time was given to inform the public, so it was rescheduled.
At this time, it is unknown when the meeting will be rescheduled.
The board member who called for it, Peter Colon, has served alongside the trustee for the past 2 years, and is currently representing himself in a court battle over this.
He has 10 days to refile his petition after a motion to dismiss was filed by Weaver’s attorney on the 31st.
This comes after a State audit revealed more than 400,000 dollars of excess, unexplained spending over the past 5 years on, leaving major discrepancies between yearly beginning and ending balances.
Residents are hoping for a speedy trial to get to the bottom of this in the New Year.
ABC57 did reach out to the Trustee’s Office, who declined to comment due to the ongoing legal proceedings.
