Beacon Health hosted a Conversation about Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Thursday morning.
The event featured special guest Karrah Herring, Indiana’s first Chief Equity, Inclusion & Opportunity Officer, along with Jackie Rucker, Teacher’s Credit Union Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion and Tessa Sutton, PhD, SBCSC’s Assistant Superintendent of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion.
The discussion emphasized the importance of inclusion in workplaces.
Herring took over the role in November 2020.
“Our governor realized that if we really want to be a state that people want to move to and stay at, we want businesses to come here so that we can grow our economic opportunities and we can grow the stature of the state. We have to pay attention to diversity, equity, and inclusion," Herring said.
Her team’s work focuses on growing statewide opportunity and growth for all Hoosiers.
She also works closely with Governor Holcomb to improve state government operations.
