"Bed Race" raises money for Benton Harbor youth
On Friday, St. Joseph hosted the 4th annual Great Bed Race Lake Boulevard and Broad Street.
All of the proceeds go directly to buy beds for children in Benton Harbor who don’t have their own mattresses.
Wightman and Associates, an engineering company in Benton Harbor, has won the race the last two years.
The engineering company raised just over $400 for the event last year to help buy beds for kids in Benton Harbor.
This year, they’ve tripled that total to $1200.
“It’s an opportunity for us to get involved in the community, it’s a great cause, it provides beds to people who dot have the resources to provide beds for themselves,” said Steve Carlisle, an employee at Wightman and Associates
“Family is a key element of who we are here at Wightman its one of our key values so if we can support through our fundraising efforts 40 Winks Foundation, it’s a win win for us,” said Jamie Balkin, Marking Director for Wightman and Associates.
