Benton Harbor cemetery proves body was located in right place

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- A Benton Harbor family found some closure after they found out exactly where a loved one was buried.

Crystal Springs Cemetery exhumed the body of Ruth Nichols after family disagreed with the cemetery about the location of the plot.

Nichols was buried were the cemetery said she was.

The family said they shouldn't have had to go through burying their mother twice.

"It took us a while to get here. This should have happened months ago. Why did they have to put us through this, this is unnecessary," William Jones, Nichols' brother, said.

The cemetery admitted to misplacing some paperwork. The cemetery agreed to pay for the exhumation two weeks ago to set the record straight.
