BENTON HARBOR, Mich. - The season of giving is full steam ahead, and one Benton Harbor church is doing their part to help financially struggling families celebrate Christmas in style.
Volunteers from the Victorious Life Christian Center Church brought the giving spirit to the Discovery Enrichment Center Monday, toting toys and necessities to keep kids cozy this winter.
The church then took their generosity across the river, donating another batch of gifts to Lincoln Elementary School in St. Joseph.
Pastor Kenneth Hawkins, Jr. of Victorious Life knows the history of racial division between St. Joseph and Benton Harbor but wants to instead focus on helping members of the community, no matter who they are.
“The challenges could care less what school you go to, challenges could care less what color you are, challenges could care less what neighborhood you stay in,” he said. “We just want to send a message to everyone, if we all just do our part, we can get a lot done together more than we can divided.”
