Benton Harbor investigators work to determine cause of suspicious fire

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- Right now, investigators are trying to figure out what caused a fire in Benton Harbor.

It started around 2:30 p.m. on Monday at a business on Territorial Drive.

Firefighters said the cause of the fire seems suspicious because this is the third time this building has caught on fire.

This time, the firefighters say this will probably be the last fire because the roof collapsed, and the building was too unsafe to even enter.

Firefighters cannot be sure if the fire was set intentionally, but the auto parts store manager across the street said the fire was no accident!

"I spoke with a firefighter after the fact and he said they found settling torches somewhere in the house," said Tyler Kirksey of Chet Nicholas Auto Parts.

Investigators are still looking into the cause of the fire.
