BENTON HARBOR, Mich. - A once contaminated site in Benton Harbor is being removed from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Superfund list!
The 17-acre plot sits next to the Paw Paw River and used to be home to several manufacturers, including an airplane parts company called "Air Components Inc."
Part of the site is now the 14th hole on the Harbor Shores Golf Course and home to the North Pier Brewing Company.
Decades of cleanup was needed because of radioactive paint, dust and other chemicals but the EPA now says it's completely safe.
"The EPA is proud to work with communities to help transform contaminated eyesores into flourishing commercial centers,” the EPA said in a statement.
